Binance Labs Rebrands Focus on Blockchain and AI

According to the company’s announcement, Binance Labs Rebrands  Labs, the venture capital arm of cryptocurrency exchange Binance Labs Rebrands will rebrand in 2025. Changpeng Zhao (CZ) will lead and personally oversee investment projects. A division of Binance called Binance Labs separated from the exchange earlier this year and became its own business. Its rebranding serves to both disassociate itself from the transaction and reflect its changing goal.

CZ Shifts Focus to Investments

According to the investment arm, Former Binance Labs Rebrands founder CZ will invest more time and actively participate in initiatives. Though he is free to concentrate on investments, CZ will never again be part of Binance’s leadership. CZ received a four-month prison sentence for regulatory violations and breaking the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act.

Binance Labs announced that it is broadening its investment approach to encompass secondary markets, over-the-counter trades, and other opportunities. In addition, CZ is devoting more time to investing and actively participating in projects. Binance Labs 2024 Investment Overview

According to Binance Labs, which invested in 46 initiatives in 2024, it was an exceptional year. Direct investments accounted for 32 of them, while 14 came via the BNB Chain-focused MVB and the chain-agnostic Labs Incubation programs. These investments were evenly distributed between deals focusing on infrastructure and those focusing on applications, and they covered a wide range of sectors.

The company boasts a wide portfolio that includes investments in fields as diverse as artificial intelligence (AI), consumer apps (X2), gaming (X3), ZK technologies (X2), RWAs (X2), and DeFi (X10) initiatives.

Two emerging areas, decentralized science (DeSci) and the “Move” system, also received increasing focus. The company has stakes in several prominent platforms, including Ethereum, Solana, Berachain, Monad, and Ethereum Layer 2 solutions. Binance Labs reports that BNB ecosystem projects accounted for twenty per cent of these investments.
